BHMI's system integration and migration projects essentially consist of the following broad operations:

• Identify current and prospective components of a client's enterprise that will be functionally involved.
• Determine how the components are to be functionally involved.
• Design an integrated system that defines components, their roles, and the logical interchanges among them required for successful operation.
• Implement the design.

Some examples of the types of tasks that may be part of a system integration or migration effort include:

• Create an assortment of logical interfaces to exchange data with external subsystems that must now function cooperatively.
• Combine disparate systems or technologies to create capabilities that didn't exist previously.
• Incorporate a new technology into an environment not originally designed for it.
• Shift the entire technical base of an application by moving it to a new hardware or software foundation.
• Add new devices to an application environment that create new transaction sources or destinations.
• Merge multiple independent databases into a single cohesive database and modify all providers or consumers of data to use the new database.
