Prior to 1987, Greyhound had been using price books at call centers to quote bus fares to customers. Call centers were constantly replacing fare rates over existing pages, creating a jumble of scrap paper and Scotch tape. Often, rate quotes were inconsistent from one location to another. Additionally, Greyhound’s call center representatives had to complete weeks of intensive geographical training and were responsible for manually mapping out the best route for each customer. Greyhound Lines, Inc. hired BHMI in 1987 to develop a Sales Support System to tie three geographically remote call centers together using BHMI distributed software.
For over a decade, BHMI has been helping us develop and support software applications that are essential to our business success. We interact more as partners than vendor and client. The length of our association is a testament to BHMI’s consistency, commitment and quality.

When BHMI replaced Greyhound’s paper system with a centralized application and database, it gave the company the ability to standardize fares and routes. The application provided a single, consistent source of data that all call centers could reference quickly and easily.
Over the past 20 years, Greyhound Lines has grown significantly. Likewise, the initial system created by BHMI in 1987 has grown into the Transportation Reservation and Itinerary Planning System (TRIPS) that comprises the business backbone for the corporation. When BHMI initially developed the application, it knew that processing performance and efficiency were paramount. BHMI recognized that as Greyhound Lines grew in size as a company, so would processing volumes. Therefore, BHMI designed TRIPS to be highly scalable to accommodate continuous processing growth. This system now supports over 300 online agencies across North America.
Today, if you were to book a trip on Greyhound Lines, the software developed by BHMI will calculate your rate, determine your route and print your ticket. Since this TRIPS application directly supports the main line of activity for Greyhound Lines and is central to the company's success, it must be accessible at all times. For this reason, BHMI deployed this application on the HP NonStop fault-tolerant platform.
